A few months ago Google announced that is is discontinuing their “Compare” service. The winding down affected the entire service including subsets like car-insurance, credit card, and mortgage comparison tools that it rolled out last year.
“Despite people turning to Google for financial services information, the Google Compare service itself hasn’t driven the success we hoped for,” the company wrote to its partners, in an email. The original goal of the service was to help users compare car insurance or other financial offerings as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
While Google will always remain supreme in offering quick and relevant information via its core business, it is hard for us as Independent Agents to imagine a world where an algorithm will ever effectively replace the expertise of a professional agent.
